Abstract

This study aimed at identify the types of disruptive behavior, identify the types of commands given by an English teacher, and analyze how the effective commands are given to students with disruptive behavior at SMP Lab UndikshaSingaraja. This study was a case study research. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative method. The data were collected through filling observation sheet, distributing questionnaire, and conducting interview then analyzed by the researcher so that the researcher was able to draw and integrate ideas to create the conclusion. The result of this study revealed that students’ disruptive behavior that appeared during the teaching and learning process could be categorized as The Immature, The Well to Do, The Mountain Climber and The Game Player, furthermore. In overcoming those disruptive behaviors the teacher used several types of commands such as Others Commands, Don’t Commands, Regular Commands, Question Commands, Indirect Commands, Interrogations Commands, Stop Command, and Negative Commands. From those commands, thirteen times commands that appeared were categorized effective.

Abstract

This study aimed at investigating the types of students’ disruptive behavior, the types of commands used by the English teacher, and analyzing the effective commands used by the English teacher to overcome students’ disruptive behavior. The method used in this study was descriptive method in which the data were described under the reality to answer the purpose of this research in finding section and draw the conclusion. The findings of this study revealed that students’ disruptive behaviors that appeared during the learning process could be categorized as The Immature and Well to Do. In handling both types of students' disruptive behavior, the teacher used several commands; those were Interrogation Commands, Regular Commands, Question Commands, Don’t Commands, Indirect Command, and Other Commands. Several commands that were effective were Interrogation Command, Question Command, Indirect Command, and Other Commands.

Abstract

The current research objective was to analyse the ninth grade students’ textbook in the Junior High School publishes by the Indonesia Ministry of National Education based on the 2013 Curriculum. The research problems were focused on the speech acts’ social functions, linguistic features, and language elements. The research was designed in a qualitative approach. Data were analysed descriptively by classifying the speech acts’ social functions, linguistic features, and language elements. The research findings were, firstly, the speech acts’ social functions were stating, describing, explaining, ordering, asking, advising, praying, requesting, complimenting, thanking, boasting, congratulating, apologizing, welcoming, condoling, refusing, offering, guaranteeing, and promising acts. Secondly, the speech acts’ linguistic features designed were imperative, interrogative, and declarative sentences. Thirdly, the speech acts’ language elements used were simple present tense, present continuous tense, present perfect tense, simple past tense, past continuous tense, past perfect tense, and simple future tense.

Abstract

Language has an important role in preserving culture, because language is the key to communication. The research was conducted at the Pancer Langit Art Studio. The proposed research focus on the lexicons found in the motions and clothing of the Legong Mahawidya dance. Informants in this study are people who can perform this dance and the choreographer. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach. This study aims to identify the lexicon in Mahawidya Legong Dance. The data obtained through interviews with choreographers and dancers as informants in this study. Thirty-three (33) lexicon are found in the movemnet of Legong Mahawidya Dance. Not all lexicons in the movement have cultural meaning. Preserving Balinese culture, especially in language and art, is the responsibility of the Balinese people. By keeping the language, using the language continuously and understanding the language, the Balinese culture will be preserved and not extinct.

Abstract

Baris Demang Demung dance is a sacred dance that exists at Banjar Tegal Village, Singaraja, Bali. This study was designed in a descriptive qualitative study. The focus of this study was to find out the lexicons and the cultural meaning of costumes used by the dancers of Baris Demang Demung dance. This study applied observation and interview methods to collect the data and totally supported with the three selected informants. The obtained data were analyzed qualitatively and descriptively. The result of this study showed that t here were 27 lexicons in the dance costumes which were divided into three types namely costumes in Baris Demang Demung (8 lexicons), costumes in Prebangsa/King (14 lexicons), and costumes in  Potet  (10  lexicons). However, 5 of the same lexicons are found in Prebangsa/King and Potet costumes. Therefore, it can be said that there were 27 lexicons found in costumes.
